When I feel overwhelmed and not terribly organized, it’s hard for me to write about it. I have had such a case of writing block. Not quite writer’s block, but some mental obstacle to sitting down and writing, even as I had many topics running through my head.

But I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want to do with this site and I think I’m finally ready to do more. I get a lot of searches for “organized mother” so there are a lot of people out there wanting to get more organized. I’m going to still talk about my journey to get organized, as well as point out resources and information as I find them.

I hope you’ll join me. And if you have any questions at all, a topic you’d like me to cover, or just a comment, please feel free to leave a note on any post or email me. Thanks for sticking around!

I have a lot on my plate right now, it seems. I’m sure we all do. With the economy and saving money at the forefront of my thoughts, it’s sometimes hard to get motivated to work on longer-term projects. Okay, even the immediate ones suffer a bit.

Throw in childcare, housework, and errands, and I wonder when I’ll get it all done. It sure does make it easier to put things off. You know, that dirty little word that isn’t so little. Procrastination.

I was a horrible procrastinator as a kid. I had chores to do every day and I’d be finishing them up as mom walked in the door. Every day. And guess what? My daughter did that, too. Drove me nuts. My mom was probably snickering at me as I complained about it.

So how do I stop procrastinating? I have to have deadlines. But telling myself I have a deadline doesn’t work. It can’t be artificial. I have to be accountable to someone for it. Otherwise I’ll just keep pushing it back because I can.

I know, it’s something I need to work on a bit more. How can I make my own deadlines stick better? How do you handle a deadline that you know isn’t “real”?
